Part 7: Vogelbach on 2017 Cardboard

I'm still hunting multiple websites for Dan Vogelbach cards which have eluded me during the 2017 baseball card collecting year, but the chase is finally starting to slow. I figure by the time I finish this series of posts we'll be counting down the days for 2018 Topps Series 1 to hit the shelves.

I'm going to go in chronological order from the first cards produced to the most recent. Each post will contain all of the Dan Vogelbach cards I've acquired from that set and I'll make a short mention of the ones I'm still on the look out for.

Round 7:  Topps Clearly Authentic

The middle of August saw the commencement of my eighteenth year of teaching and Topps Clearly Authentic. Anything with the price of $55+ for a box, which contains only one card, isn't really my kind of product. Yet, I think this is one of my favorites of the year. I like the pure acetate card stock and the parallels are pretty sharp. Plus, each card is hard signed... none of those sticker autos!
Above is what the cards look like when you hold them up to the light. The natural background of the card is still somewhat visible, but only the player and card design elements are opaque.

The cards are difficult to take pictures of, because they are so beautiful in hand I feel like you need to be a professional photographer to truly capture how neat they are. My cats DID NOT find it amusing that I wanted to use the sun shining on the desk to take pictures. I typed up most of this post with my arms flanking Hugo.
Perhaps they'll forgive me down the road for making them move. Honestly, I think they're still upset that I haven't figured out it's their world and I'm just a food bearing pawn.

Moving on back to cardboard acetate:
The backs of the card don't offer an stats, but I do like how the pictures are black and white while still allowing the autograph to peak through.
Each card comes in a magnetic holder sealed by a tamper proof sticker from Topps. Funny enough, I like how my Clearly Authentic collection magnetizes to each other in my Vogelbach box. Makes it so much easier to pick up at once!
Again, this set is on the very high end of the collecting market. I can't imagine what it must of felt like buying a box for $55+ and finding a Vogelbach auto staring back at you. Buyer's remorse?
Needless to say, I was there to capitalize on the lack of star-power-pulling luck of others. I bought my four cards for a little less than $30 combined! And, this is why I love the secondary card market.

#CAAU-DV - Topps Clearly Authentic (Gold), 1/1

I don't know that'll I'll ever see the Gold parallel, a 1/1. That's fine. I'm very happy with what I have.

I hope you're enjoying my Vogelbach reveal series. If not, you only have to suffer through another dozen posts. Yep, that's right. Dan Vogelbach, a guy who had twelve official at-bats in 2016 was included in 19 different products in 2017. Wow!
