7 Cities, 7 Games, 7 Days - Day 2

I left Peoria this morning at a pretty early hour, met an old friend for lunch at Pappy's Smokehouse, and then proceeded to drive to my aunt and uncle's house in St. Charles, MO.   Ballpark number two was located in O'Fallon, MO and featured the River City Rascals versus the Normal Cornbelters at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.  Both teams are members of the independent Frontier League.

Here's their mascot, Ruffy.  Boy, he's almost too happy for words.

It was Star Wars night at the ballpark and we bumped into storm troopers, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, the Evil Emperor, and a creepy sand person.  Here's my favorite of the evening, Boba Fett:

Here's a sweet picture of my cousin, John, in the Ruffy cut-out.  Classy!

They had a prize wheel on the concourse, but only "won" a small bag of popcorn.  Bummer.

Here's the outfield manually operated scoreboard.  Fairly tall and it reminded me of the Green Monster at Fenway Park.  One batter banged one high off the wall, but he was held to a single because it was less than 300 feet away.  Crazy.

The home team lost 4 to 3 in a game that took over three hours to play.  It was great to hang out with my relatives and enjoy a beautiful night at the ballpark.  Next up, Kansas City!

  1. Is that your Uncle Brian in the foreground of the first photo? Mom
P.S. I was surprised there wasn't any commentary on the concessions/snack food. How about ranking of the facility, game, team mascot, concessions, and other amenities? :-)
