Folder of Fun: Pages 11 & 12

The Folder of Fun, as I like to call it, has been in the works for about three years. That's about the time I stopped buying retail and hobby packs and began tracking down cards which fit a certain general description: FUN.  Here's a link to the first post in this series if you'd like to go back and catch up. 

Page 11 and 12 continue to focus on the sights, sounds and especially the smells at the ol' ballpark. 

The Incredible Eats insert set is from 2017 Topps Opening Day. The use of the word "incredible" is maybe a little over the top for something as common as peanuts or popcorn, but there are some pretty fabulous items I would love to sink my teeth into.

 I used to be able to eat a whole bag of peanuts by myself, but I've found that as I age certain things don't sit well in my gut. Unfortunately, an entire bag of peanuts is one of them.

This is a pretty classic item at a ballpark. Not as highly consumed by fans as a hot dog, but still a great option.

 I don't think I've ever had a box of popcorn at a baseball game. When I coached high school and middle school basketball popcorn would sometimes be my dinner. Don't tell my wife.

 Roasted red peppers on a hot dog? Sign. Me. Up.

Side note: Did anyone else have to look up what "broccoli rabe" is?

 Cheesy corn brisket-acho? Yes, now we're talking! If things are "better" in 2021, then there is a good chance I will cross this one off my list.

This must be a New York thing, no?

 Chicken and waffle cone? I had chicken and waffles once for breakfast, but the chicken was bone-in. So much work! I have to think this offering would go down so much easier.

 I'm over foot-long hot dogs. They're always the cheap hot dogs. I'll spend my money on a shorter, quality all beef frank if you don't mind.

 Nacho bowl?  What about helmet nachos? That's the only true option if you ask me.

 There's not much better than a warm soft pretzel on a cool spring day in a ballpark.

I haven't had cotton candy since my childhood. I'll pass.

 Corn on a stick. Yes!  The Peoria Chiefs used to have a private vendor come in and sell corn on a stick. He would grill them in tin foil and then you could sprinkle your seasoning of choice on afterwards. So good!

 Wait, this is a thing at Wrigley? I've never had a hot dog and just onions at Wrigley or any other ballpark.

Give me a dog with mustard or a Chicago style dog with the tomato, safety-green relish and sport peppers. Yum!

 Ha! I've had a Boomstick when I went to Arlington a few years ago. My buddy, Jeff, and I split one. Delicious!

Oh my gosh. Why do I look at this one and think it is so much more unhealthier than the other alternatives? FYI, it doesn't make me want to try it any less.

Yes, yes, and yes.

I'll try anything once, but I think one of these would be enough.

Wow, poutine is kind of foreign to this midwestern lad, but I'm game!

Which one of the above would you want to have right now? When I took these pictures I was all about the cheesy corn brisket-acho, but now I'm feeling the corn on a stick. Tomorrow I'll probably want something different. 😋
