Ogle That Vogel: Missing Magenta

The Vogelmonster may have cooled off from his torrid start in April, but my collection of his keeps getting hotter. It was a good week in terms of sniping cards off Ebay as I netted three printing plates!

2011 - Bowman Sterling (Cyan)

2017 Topps Chrome (Yellow)

2018 Panini National Treasures (Black)
I thought I understood the printing plate process, but now I'm befuddled because the Panini card doesn't have a reverse image like the two Topps products above.

For the record, I have now acquired ten printing plates total and I have three of the four 2018 National Treasures plates. I'm only missing the magenta. It'll show up eventually! Right?

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Mother's Day!

  1. I used to think that if the plate image was inversed it meant the original card it was made for was a chrome variant. But since then I've become less and less sure that that's the case.

Regardless, congrats on landing those awesome plates! It's always impressive seeing people add these things, especially if they're autographed no less.

  3. Weird, I guess I thought they were reversed too.

Hoping you can achieve a full plate run on a card issue.

  4. I have over 60 plates of Cutch and the only ones that are reversed are Chrome (Topps and Bowman). I have only completed one rainbow of all 4 plates, but have 3 where I have 3 out 4 of the plates.

Good luck in your search for the missing plate. I will certainly keep my eyes open for you.

  5. I like the look of that matted Bowman Sterling printing plate. It's also cool that Topps had him sign the actual 2017 printing plate instead of using a sticker. Best of luck tracking down the magenta National Treasures! That has to be one of the hardest things to accomplish in our hobby, because you gotta hope that it's been pulled... and that the person who pulled it wants to list it or trade it.

  6. I never seen a plate like that Bowman one before, it sure has a great look to it!

  7. Don't you kind of feel like the autograph of that 2017 Yellow Chrome should be reversed, too? Nice pick ups.
