Eat Pie on Saturday.

Tomorrow is Pi Day.  You know what I'm talking about.  As a math teacher I've preached to my students for years that there is more to pi than the excuse to eat pie.  Pi is the ratio of the number of diameters of a circle to the circumference of that same circle! Beautiful math!  It's a wonderful number, which is both non-repeating and non-terminating.  Almost sounds irrational, doesn't it?  Well, it is.

I lost you?  It's okay.  Well then, let's just go with the old standby.  Pi is 3.141592653...

Let's investigate that a little closer, shall we?

Look at those digits again and think about Saturday's date.  Yep, 3/14/15.  What about the 92653?

I know I'm going to have a mouthful of pie during the 53rd second of that minute.  You should, too.

You must eat pie tomorrow.  It's the rarest of all Pi Days and only happens once every century.  Is there no better excuse to indulge?
