PWE All Trade Bait Style

Oscar, the author of All Trade Bait, All The Time, is working his elves overtime this holiday season with his Operation Cardboard Christmas initiative. A sweet PWE with the enclosed sticky note arrived the other day.
How fancy is that little scribble thingy at the bottom?  I'm sure the scribble has a name, but I'm not nearly as classy as Oscar's elves.

There are many Dodger bloggers out there, and I find it nearly impossible to feed them all quality cardboard. I'm sure Oscar feels the same way with all the Cub guys out there, but yet he charged the workshop elves into sending me some holiday Cub goodness.

Let's take a look at how they did!
A pair Cubs right fielders kick things off. The Heyward card is coming with me to Chicago for the Cubs Convention. Heyward, himself, seems like a classy fellow. I bet he has a smooth signature, much like Andre Dawson's. I would love to find out first hand!

Next up we have a couple of Cubs pitchers.
The current front office loves to gamble on guys coming off of injuries. Scott Baker was a gamble, which didn't pay off.  Maybe Drew Smyly will in 2019?
Frank Lucchesi managed the last 25 games of the 1987 season for the Cubs. Eight wins and seventeen losses. Ouch.
Woo-Hoo!  Ryno!  ScoreMasters was one of the first artwork-ish sets I remember collecting.

There's one last pairing to be found in the PWE. Can you figure out the connection between these two?
Both gentlemen have moved on to other organizations, but each played a role in bringing a championship to the north side of Chicago in 2016.

Thanks for the cards, Oscar. Please tell the elves they did an excellent job of selecting cardboard for this collector!

Happy Holidays!

  1. Tom! Nice cards from Oscar. It's called a flourish (an ornamental stroke in writing or printing, see noun, 2b here: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/flourish).
