Part 6: Vogelbach on 2017 Cardboard

I'm still hunting multiple websites for Dan Vogelbach cards which have eluded me during the 2017 baseball card collecting year, but the chase is finally starting to slow. I figure by the time I finish this series of posts we'll be counting down the days for 2018 Topps Series 1 to hit the shelves.

I'm going to go in chronological order from the first cards produced to the most recent. Each post will contain all of the Dan Vogelbach cards I've acquired from that set and I'll make a short mention of the ones I'm still on the look out for.

Round 6:  Topps Chrome

Since Vogelbach was in Topps Series 2, I was kind of wondering if he would be included in Topps Chrome. Chrome is only a two hundred card set, so not everyone makes the cut. Lucky for me, Topps loves it rookies, which means I was purchasing parallels right and left for about a straight month.
Parallels... parallels... and more parallels.
I teased this card yesterday on the blog. It just arrived early this week.
It's the Gold Sapphire card numbered to /5. It's beautiful in hand!

Oh, no. We're not done. Don't forget the autos!
Still more to come!
Yep, ten autographed cards. Yikes!  I guess I didn't realize there were that many until now.

2017 Topps Chrome Haves (25):

2017 Topps Chrome Needs (5):
#86 - Topps Chrome (Gold Wave Refractor), #/50
#86 - Topps Chrome (Superfractor), 1/1
#86 - Topps Chrome (Printing Plates), 1/1
#RA-DV - Topps Chrome (Superfractor AUTO), 1/1
#RA-DV - Topps Chrome (Superfractor Printing Plates), 1/1

I saw the base superfractor sell, and I put in my high bid, but I came up way short. So it goes. I doubt I'll see any of the other 1/1s or be able to afford them.
Man, if only I could track down the Gold Wave Refractor! As far as I'm concerned my two rainbows (base and auto) are pretty much complete.

Topps Chrome was a fun chase, but those parallels are a little crazy. No?  Don't get me wrong though... crazy in a good way!
Not every set needs parallels, and it wouldn't bother me to see Topps do a way with parallels in other sets. I feel there are just way too many. But don't touch the chrome, because supercollectors love a good rainbow!

  1. Wow, impressive!
Nice that they used a different photo on the auto.

  2. As a primary player super collector these days, building a rainbow is a lot of fun but can be very frustrating if a low numbered Parallel escapes you.

  4. I'm trying to supercollect one particular card from the Update set and I was afraid I missed a whole bunch of parallels after seeing your checklist. But after double checking, I guess the Update set didn't have as many as the base. Whew! (But also kind of a bummer...)

    Nice work!

  5. This is impressive! For a while, all I was pulling was Vogelbach autos (already sold them on eBay), but I can see you already have them...

    Wow!
